Dr. Hisham Fouad
Dr. Fouad is a Senior Transport Specialist and Infrastructure Program Leader at the World Bank, where he brings over 28 years of experience in climate-resilient infrastructure planning, green transport, and innovative financing. Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, Fouad leads projects across Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, focusing on designing and implementing infrastructure resilient to climate change impacts, such as sea level rise and extreme weather events. His work incorporates green technologies like electric vehicles and solar energy to reduce emissions and promote low-carbon development. Fouad also works on innovative financing models, including climate finance instruments like green bonds and carbon credits, to mobilize resources and encourage private sector participation.
His previous experience includes roles in Egypt, Ukraine, and Jordan, where he worked on transport sector reforms, regulatory frameworks, and project management. Fouad’s academic background includes a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Civil and Transport Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park, and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Ain Shams University.
