Nobel Laureate and Board Member, Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future, South Korea
Nobel Laureate Dr. Raekwon Chung is a pioneering figure in global climate advocacy, known for his early adoption of the green growth paradigm in 2005 and his role as Korea's first climate change ambassador.
He served as a principal advisor on climate change to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and received a personal copy of the IPCC Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. His career includes significant roles such as Director for Environment and Development at UN ESCAP and Director General for International Economic Affairs at Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Currently, Chung is a Board Member at the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future and holds honorary professorships at South Kazakhstan University and Tashkent State University of Economics. He is also the founder of the New Climate Innovation Center. Chung's education includes a Master of Science in Foreign Service with a focus on Climate Change from Georgetown University.
