Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital

Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital is a distinguished Professional in the energy sector with over 20 years of expertise. Currently, he has been serving as Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission of Nepal, since June 2024. He brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as a Regulatory Specialist and National Solar Coordinator at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Dhital's career includes significant contributions as Executive Director of the Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC), where he led initiatives for renewable energy programs, and mobilized resources for clean energy solutions. His international experience includes advisory roles with UNDP in Afghanistan and AusAID in Vanuatu, enhancing his proficiency in energy project design and implementation.
Dhital has a strong academic background with a Ph.D. and Master’s in Renewable Energy from the Institute of Engineering Pulchowk Campus, Tribhuwan University, and Fachhochschule Oldenburg/ Ostfriesland/ Wilhelmshaven, respectively. His comprehensive expertise spans technical auditing, regulatory affairs, and capacity building, underpinned by a commitment to sustainable energy development and effective regulation.
