Managing Director, NWEDC (Upper Trishuli-1)

Mr. Hong Youngjin is a South Korean national. He holds an engineering degree from Hanyang University, Korea. Mr. Hong worked at the Gulpur Hydropower Project (102 MW) in Pakistan from 2017 to 2019 in the capacity of General Manager. The Gulpur power plant commenced operations in 2019, funded by IFC, ADB, Korea Exim, and FMO, and sponsored by KOEN. 


With approximately 15 years of professional experience, Mr. Hong specializes in project management, construction supervision, administrative coordination, HR, environmental & social issues, and technical aspects in hydropower and coal power plants. He was appointed as Managing Director at NWEDC in January 2024 by KOEN's Overseas Department. NWEDC is currently developing the Upper Trishuli-1 (UT-1), a 216MW hydropower plant in Rasuwa, Nepal. KOEN is the main sponsor of UT-1, with nine international lenders namely IFC, ADB, K-EXIM, AIIB, KDB, BII, FMO, OFID, and Proparco.
