IDRC Endowed Research Chair and Professor, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand
Professor Banerjee is the IDRC Endowed Research Chair in the Gender and Development Studies Program at the Asian Institute of Technology. She has a rich background in research and publication on forced migration and gender across South and Southeast Asia and is the founding Director of the Center on Gender and Forced Displacement at AIT. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1993, where she was awarded the Advanced Taft fellowship.
As a Professor at the University of Calcutta, she has held prominent roles, including Vice Chancellor of Sanskrit College and University, where she managed a 4 million USD budget and digitalized a major manuscript collection. She also served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts, overseeing 7000 graduate students and numerous departments. A two-term president of the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM), Professor Banerjee has published extensively, including 15 books, over 44 articles, and book chapters.
